Tawny owls are widespread across Europe and can be found mainly in woodlands. But they are also very adaptable and you can find them in many green parks in urban areas too. During the day they roost in tree cavities until dusk. Then they start getting active and to hunt. Their main prey are small mammals like rodents and sometimes young rabbits too. After hatching, their offspring will stay in a tree cavity for 35-40 days until they can leave the nest as so called branchling, another couple days later they start to fly.
