Burrowing owls are small, long-legged owls and can be found throughout open landscapes across North and South America. They are the only owls nesting in burrows, often abandoned prairie dog burrows. Unlike like most of the owls burrowing owls can be active during daytime. As they are very adaptive these species can often be found near farms and in green parks in urban areas.
