Gaur are the largest wild cattle of the world, large bulls can weigh up to 1500kg. They feed on a wide variety of plants, leaves, grass and fruits in the tropical rainforests.  Gaur are native to the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia and are listed as a threatened species on the red list. Most of the gaur population live in national parks and protected areas. This gaur bull i saw on a private safari at Bandipur Tiger Reserve.  For more wildlife from India click here.
