When the temperatures get warmer in the springtime all the birds life starts to return. Some birds are more active during courtship display than others. The courtship display of the great-crested grebes is definitely one of the highlights here. To get an angle as low as possible i got some waders and got into the (very cold) water in a nearby lake. As they are used to humans it is possible to get quite close. Sometimes more than 6 breeding pairs were doing their dances at the same time. The next goal is in a couple weeks to get some shots when the chicks are riding on the backs and get fed by the parents. For more wildlife in Bavaria click here
