November 2019

Since many years i was looking for an opportunity to photograph european dippers. On our last vacation in the NP Hohe Tauern (Austria) i found a couple of very cooperative dippers. I slowly approached them and after some time they got used to my presence. Getting a very low angle to photograph and at the same time not getting wet was very challenging but i managed it and i was rewarded with pictures like this one. Dippers are the only songbirds which are able to swim and dive. They live near clear fresh water streams and feed on larves and water insects.
