The osprey is a fish eating raptor distributed on all continents except Antarctica. It has an unique hunting method when diving down and into the water to catch its prey. With powerful wings the osprey can carry fish out of the water which are heavier than themselves. Adaptable as they are they live and nest anywhere near water and a good abundance of prey. Often they nest near urban waterways and coastlines. This picture i took in central Colorado. Click here for more Colorado wildlife.
