African wild dogs are the largest wild canine in Africa. They live in highly socialized packs and belong to the most succesfull hunters in the African savannah. Their hunt is perfectly coordinated and with extreme persistance over long distance and a long period of time. Their prey are usually larger antelopes up to the size of an Eland. Although very successful in hunting habitat fragmantation and habitat loss is decimating their numbers dramatically. Only about 6500 african wild dogs are left in the wild. While visiting the Kruger NP a couple weeks ago i was able to get a shot of these magnificent animals. Click here for more pictures from my last trip to the Kruger Nationalpark
