The black-backed kingfisher is one of the smallest kingfishers and endemic to the Indian Subcontinent and Mainland Southeast Asia. It is mostly found near small creeks and streams in tropical rainforests where it feeds on spiders, worms, insects and other small animals. Colorful as it is, still it is not easy to find. I was lucky to get a glimpse of that one at Kaeng Krachan NP. For more wildlife of Thailand click here
