JULY 2023

The tule elk is a subspecies of elk and can only be found in California. While there were 500.000 elk when the first settlers arrived today only a couple thousands of them can be found in small seperated protected areas. And even there they are not able to live in peace as the farmers claim the grasslands for their cattle. In Point Reyes National Seashore there is a big controversy as there are plans to shoot these protected animals to save more grass for the farm animals. Watching and photographing these magnificent animals along the Californian coast is always so rewarding. Hope they will find a solution without killing these unique elk species.
