The common frog is one of the most common amphibians in Europe. It appears in many different colors and patterns. From green and brown to red and grey. During their mating season at the end of march they migrate back to the same pond where they were born. Usually the males will try to hold on to a female while defending her from competitors. While toads have spawn ropes frogs leave spawn balls attached to water plants. After mating the females leave the pond while the males try to find another mate. Within a few days all frogs are gone. Tadpoles will hatch from the eggs after a couple weeks. They feed on algae and small water insects, after 2-3 months the tadpoles have developed into a frog and can now breath out of the water too.
