The winter months are the best time to watch bobcats. It’s mating time and they tend to be more active during the day. During my last two visits to San Francisco earlier this year i was lucky to see more than 6 different bobcats at different locations. Each bobcat looks different and has its own personality, some are very skittish and shy and are not approachable at all while other bobcats are curious and relaxed and you can really get close for some nice shots.
