The carpathian brown bear belongs to the european brown bear family and roams the forests and mounatins of the carpathians from southern Poland to central Romania. It lives mainly vegetarian but occasionally eats mammals and other small animals. The hibernation in the winter can be quite short as the winter getting warmer and warmer and there is enough food available most of the time. In the forest carpathians of south-eastern Poland brown bears are not hunted and you have a good chance of seeing them there in their natural habitat. For more wildlife of Poland click here.
