MAY 2018

We were on an early morning hike with my son (6Yrs), it was still raining but in the forest the mood was nice. While i kept looking for deer and fox my son found this beautiful fire salamander. It was the first time i saw this species. I know they’re quite common in humid, mossy forests in Europe but yet hard to see. They only emerge from their undergound hides when it is not too warm and still wet. After spending some time with this unique critter we kept on hiking and found three other fire salamanders. The next days the rain stopped and we never saw them again. Glad, I had a camera with me…Taken at Hausruck Wald, Austria
