Allen’s hummingbirds are one of the most common hummingbirds in California. The males often display their bright bronze and orange colored chest feathers to impress females and to chase away intruders. Like most hummingbirds it feeds on nectar and small insects, due to its high metabolism it needs to feed constantly. This picture i took at the coastline of Los Angeles.
