Mandarin ducks are one of the most colorful ducks of the world. Especially during the winter time and with some snow as contrast the plumage of the drakes is absolutely stunning. These ducks here in Munich are most likely escapes from zoos and parks. Their usual distribution is in Eastern Asia. For a nesting site mandarin ducks use a tree with a cavity near water like a stream or a pond.
