JULY 2020

The European adder or European viper is a medium sized venemous snake and widespread throughout Europe and it still can be found in far east Asia. It’s also the only species of snake which can be found north of the polar circle. Their color can vary from light grey to reddish and brown and in the mountain areas they are sometimes pure black. Their main prey are frogs, mice and lizards. Due to habitat destruction the populations of the adder are getting more and more seperated and in Germany the adder is in massive decline. It is on the german red list with the status „critically endangered“. Luckily we have some nice spots here in Bavaria where you still can find a good number of them.
