Wild Hokkaido

Winter in Hokkaido is a wildlife gem, especially for birders. You can see japanese cranes dancing during their courtship display, get close to whooper swans at Lake Kusharo and have some actions with steller eagles and white tailed eagles at the coast. At Notsuke peninsula you will sure see some sika deer and with luck some red foxes which look gorgeous in white snow. One of the highlights was to see and capture the largest and rarest owl of the wolrd, the blakistone fish owl.
